mark-sanchezNFL DRAFT GRADES

It was one hell of a weekend, players were drafted, and trades were made. Some teams got a lot stronger and for some other teams, the song remains the same.(The Raiders)

It seems that the Giants and Eagles really staked their claim as the smartest teams in the division. The New England Patriots had another terrific draft and the Jaguars did a great job of finding talent. Surprisingly, the Cincinnati Bengals did an amazing job of letting talent fall to them.

It remains to be seen how these players will respond to the pro game but there are certainly some clear cut winners and losers.

New York Giants = A+

Another masterful job here by GM Jerry Reese. Hakeem Nicks should prove to be a solid possession receiver and could contribute in three wide sets immediately. Clint Sintim presents a ton of versatility and comes from a tremendous college program. William Beatty has excellent upside, as does Ramses Barden, and Travis Beckum is a great athlete. If Andre Brown didn’t struggle with injuries, he may have been a 1st day pick. Rhett Bomar may prove to be a terrific value this late in the draft. Kudos to Mr Reese.

New England Patriots = A

Bill Belichick has done a tremendous job letting the draft fall to him and garnering multiple picks in the mid-rounds. Tyrone McKenzie and Darius Butler were excellent values where they were picked. Brandon Tate has super-star potential and Ron Brace is going to be able to fit into the D-Line rotation this year. Patrick Chung is a classic Strong Safety who hits with a ton of bricks.

Philadelphia Eagles = A

If the Eagles haven’t helped out Donovan McNabb in the past then they certainly gave him some help this year. The Eagles seem to get great values at every single pick. Maclin slid all the way down to 19 and LeSean McCoy could prove to be a steal in the middle of the second round. You also have to factor in the Jason Peters trade into their draft as well. Philly looks to be VERY improved coming into 2009.

Jacksonville Jaguars = A

I like what Jacksonville did here and that’s solidify their offensive line. Eugene Monroe was my top rated offensive tackle and Ebon Britton is a terrific player with a ton of upside. The Jags got two great mid round wide receiver prospects in Thomas and Dillard, who I think is the best route runner in this draft. Rahsad Jennings and Tiquan Underwood were excellent late round selections. A very nice change of pace from their previous drafts.

Cincinnati Bengals = A

The Bengals went bold in this draft. As per usual, they selected players with talent that have character concerns. If you only focused on game film, Andre Smith would have been the number two pick. Rey Maualuga will prove to be a great tackler playing alongside his college teammate, Keith Rivers. Michael Johnson in the 3rd round is a nice value and Chase Coffman gives them a much need option for Palmer to throw to. I really like Luigs from Arkansas because the Bengals can really use some help on the interior of that O-Line. A well played draft here.

Arizona Cardinals = B+

I know that the Cardinals had their eye on Donald Brown out of Connecticut but Beanie Wells is a great consolation prize. Rashad Johnson is a smart player to add to their improving secondary, while Cody Brown can be brought along at the linebacker position. They also nabbed Herman Johnson in the 5th. The Cards took some chances but ended up with what could be four potential starters.

Green Bay Packers = B+

I like what Ted Thompson did here. I still believe that Aaron Kampmann will go to waste at the Outside Linebacker spot but the front office is at least trying to get help to transition to the 3-4 defense. BJ Raji was a tremendous value and trading up to get Clay Matthews was a solid move. Tackles TJ Lang and Jamon Meredith are good insurance for Mark Tauscher, who is unlikely to return to the team. Great values all around.

Pittsburgh Steelers = B+

Pittsburgh had a very solid draft here and they got exactly what they need… depth! Hood is a great upside pick that might be able to sneak into the rotation and Urbik will start for them on the inside, as he’s a very smart and tough player. Wallace is a burner with track speed and hands to excel at wide receiver and in the kick return game. AQ Shipley won the Remington Award(College football’s best Center) last season.

Miami Dolphins = B+

Miami went after athletes first in this draft. They snagged Vernon Davis little brother and my boy Sean Smith for their secondary. Netting Pat White to throw into their wildcat system is also a very curious pick. It’s tough to doubt Parcells selections but Patrick Turner and Andrew Gardner are very nice picks if the light ever comes on.

Atlanta Falcons = B+

Thomas Dimitroff landed a great player in Peria Jerry he did another good job of letting the value fall to him. William Moore is a terrific safety that can play right away on defense and on special teams. Sidbury in the 4th was a steal and one of Atlanta’s best picks, as he’s got great pass rushing potential. Atlanta focused on defense and it should help what is already a very good team.

Cleveland Browns = B+

I actually like this draft. I had Alex Mack ranked as my top center and I think Cleveland did a great job fixing a position that has been a problem for them since Jeff Faine left. Robiskie will be a solid pro and Mohamed Massaquoi has good upside in the passing game. James Davis could prove to be a steal that late but I really like their selection of Coye Francies in the 6th. That’s a screaming value IMO.

San Francisco 49ers = B+

I think San Francisco had one of their best drafts in recent memory. Drafting a two time Biletnikoff Award winner is never a bad pick. Thanks to the Oakland Raiders reaching for Heyward-Bey, Michael Crabtree fell to the #10 pick. Scott McKillop, Nate Davis, Curtis Taylor, Bear Pascoe, and the frenchy Jean-Francois are all great prospects with tons of upside. You couldn’t do any better with the picks given. Glen Coffee is a good athlete but I would have gone in a different direction.

Tennessee Titans = B+

The Titans drafted one of the best WR prospects available in Kenny Britt and he’ll be able to contribute right away. TE Jared Cook is a freak of nature and a position of need. SenDerrick Marks was more of a need but could get into the rotation sooner rather than later. Troy Kropog from Tulane was a nice value but he may not see the field right off, as Tennessee has a very solid group up front. The rich get richer here.

Houston Texans = B+

I like what Houston did, as they focused even more on their defense and found some great help in Cushing and Barwin. I am a big fan of snagging Antoine Caldwell in the 3rd round and getting TE James Casey in the 5th was a flat out steal. Anthony Hill will contribute more in the blocking game at first but the Texans got some nice pieces here.

Buffalo Bills = B

I’m a fan of Aaron Maybin and some scouts are not. He has a tremendous first step and should bring an added dimension in the pass rush. Eric Wood was the best center on some team’s draft boards, while Andrew Levitre was a top ranked guard on other boards. Shawn Nelson is an intruiging prospect who has a lot of speed and good hands for the passing game. Jairus Byrd is the son of Bears’ defensive backs coach and ProBowler Gill Byrd.

New York Jets = B

I know the Jets traded away a lot of picks and they have more needs than just three players can cure but they went out and got what they needed. The Jets needed a quarterback and they beat out everybody to trade up for Sanchez. They wanted a more physical runningback and traded up to select Shonn Greene with the first pick of the second day. This is the draft that will make or break general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Baltimore Ravens = B

Another year in the draft, another year of letting value fall right into their respective laps. Michael Oher will fit right in a battle for the right tackle spot, Paul Kruger will learn the ropes from Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs, and Jason Phillips tough mentality will fit right in with this defense. Cedric Peerman was a solid value in the 6th round, as he’s a great athlete. Ozzie Newsome had another solid year in the draft.

Seattle Seahawks = B

I can’t knock the Seahawks for selecting Aaron Curry because he’s a great player with solid character. Max Unger is one of my favorite interior lineman of this draft with his versatility. Deon Butler could contribute in three/four WR sets especially with Branch and Burleson’s penchant for getting hurt. Very good value for where they were and the trade that sent their other 2nd round pick to Denver for a 2010 first round pick was like taking candy from a baby. A well played draft by Tim Ruskell here.

Detroit Lions = B

The Lions didn’t do that bad but considering where they were picking, they did average. Pettigrew should help the running and passing game right away, as he’s a solid blocker. Stafford’s start will be rocky and it’s to be hoped that this season doesn’t kill him. Louis Delmas is a great fit from Western Michigan and Derrick Williams will prove to be a tremendous value were he was selected. The only worry here is that the team needed another offensive tackle that could fit into the starting five. Not bad but not all that great either.

Indianapolis Colts = B

The Colts shocked some folks by selecting Donald Brown but they also crushed the Arizona Cardinals’ dreams of getting the Connecticut product. Brown will get into the backfield instantly and Moala will fit right into the rotation on the defensive line. Austin Collie is an interesting selection and I really like the fact that Curtis Painter is going to a team that he can take his time and learn by watching the master. Bill Polian is right much more often than not and something is telling me that Donald Brown could be VERY special.

Minnesota Vikings = B

The Vikings are extremely happy with Percy Harvin and it’s kind of funny how they’re trying to spin it. I think they got a solid value with Jasper Brinkley in the 5th round and Loadholt has a great chance to start this year if he can fix his footwork. If Harvin is a bust, this draft will be marked as a failure.

Kansas City Chiefs = C+

I think Tyson Jackson was selected a little high but he is a very unique player and the Chiefs wanted to make sure they were the ones walking away with the best 5-technique D-Lineman in the draft. Alex Magee also presents them with some needed versatility on the defensive line. Colin Brown lacks athleticism and Washington doesn’t have great instincts. I’m not impressed with the back half of this draft but I usually give Pioli the benefit of the doubt.

Carolina Panthers = C+

I guess you “could” count Jeff Otah into this draft, as Carolina traded this year’s 1st rounder to Philly last year. Everette Brown is a steal in the 2nd round and Rod Martin offers a lot of versatility. Irvin has some upside with terrific strength and Mike Goodson is a great receiver out of the backfield but it’ll be interesting to see if he can get on the field. Duke Robinson in the 5th was a steal!

San Diego Chargers = C+

Reach! I like Larry English but I’m thinking he would have been available 10 picks later. Vasquez has amazing strength and should fit in well with the Chargers physical style. St Louis Rams = C+

The Rams didn’t take who I thought they should have taken but they got a great player in Jason Smith. They almost traded back into the 1st round to select Laurinaitis but as it turns out, he was hanging around in the 2nd after the deal fell through. Brooks Foster is a tremendous athlete who walked on to the UNC Final Four Basketball team. The Rams still don’t know what they’re doing but they’re getting closer.

Chicago Bears = C+

If Jay Cutler is added into this grade then they’d be in the “A” range of things but I think the Bears did a really nice job with the picks they had. Washington Redskins = C-

The Redskins had two really good picks to help their defense. I think Kevin Barnes is one of the best corners in this draft and Brian Orakpo is a physical specimen that should find a way into the starting lineup before the year is out. New Orleans Saints = C-

Having only one first round pick is pretty tough but the Saints got a great player in Jenkins. The Ohio State product is a solid tackler and a smart player. Safety Chip Vaughn was a great value in the 4th round and might get into the lineup sooner rather than later. The Saints needed help in that area, so they were able address that but we’ll see how the running game survives this season.

Dallas Cowboys = D

Stephen McGee? What a joke. If anybody was confused about when Parcells’ people left Dallas exactly, you can be sure that they’re definitely ALL gone now. One of the better picks they made was Robert Brewster who might compete for a backup spot this year. I really like DeAngelo Smith that late, as well as his teammate Mike Mickens, who I can’t believe slipped that far. They also snagged Ken Hamlin’s brother, Michael, out of Clemson.

Denver Grublets = D-

I like Knowshon Moreno and I think Alphonso Smith could eventually be a good player but the lack of players that will contribute to the front seven is very upsetting. Robert Ayers is a one year wonder who fits into the 4-3 better than the 3-4 that Denver is attempting to install. The terrible truth about this draft is that the Broncos traded their two 1st round picks they received from the Jay Cutler trade and turned them into Robert Ayers & Alphonso Smith. Blake Schlueter was tremendous value late in the draft.

Tampa Bay reached for Josh Freeman and they got very little help out side of him. The real downside is that Freeman is a complete project and after years of criticizing John Gruden for not drafting a young QB, the Bucs are going to put the fate of their franchise into a totally unproven longshot QB from Kansas State. Kyle Moore is an interesting player who could be a better pro than a collegiate player.

mcdaniels1The Denver Broncos came into this year’s NFL Drat with 4 picks in the first 50 selections and plenty of ammunition to trade up or down to select the players that best fit their system.

Unfortunately Little Joshie McCheese and the Grublets did very little to help a defense that ranked 30th in total points allowed. Instead, the Elroy Jetson look-alike decided to go after a top tier running back, a one year wonder 4-3 defensive lineman, and a skinny corner back with an attitude problem.

I’m thinking that Josh McDaniels’ tenure as the Broncos’ head man is going to be very short lived.  Well, along with the draft……

1st Round(12th overall)

some text

Knowshon Moreno, RB -Georgia

Height: 6′1″ | Weight: 235 | 40 Time: 4.59 | BroadJump: 10′8″ | Projected: Top-20

The selection of Knowshon Moreno set the tone for the Broncos losing season that is upcoming in 2009. With players like Brian Orakpo, Brian Cushing, and his teammate Rey Maualuga still on the board the brain trust, or lack there of, went for the offensive side of the ball because we can’t score points. Wuh?
GRADE = C-

1st Round(18th overall)

some text

Robert Ayers, DE -Tennessee

Height: 6′3″ | Weight: 272 | 40 Time: 4.90 | Bench: 18 reps | Projected: 2nd Round

This is one of the first rounders the Broncos were tossed in the Jay Cutler deal and we at least went defense. The problem? Ayers is a one year wonder who didn’t even start until his senior season. He has maturity issues and disciplinary question marks. The light finally turned on when he realized his NFLfuture was on the line last season at Tennessee.
GRADE = D+

2nd Round(37th overall)

some text

Alphonso Smith, CB -Wake Forest

Height: 5′9″ | Weight: 193 | 40 Time: 4.51 | Vertical: 34.0 | Projected: 1st Round

WTF? You trade the other future 1st rounder in 2010 to Seattle for a 5′8″ rookie corner with attitude problems? He better be Darrell #$%#ing Green. For the folks who want the simple math, it would look something like this: Jay Cutler = Robert Ayers + Alphonso Smith or McDaniels = Retard. LB Rey Maualuga, DT Ron Brace, and DE Everette Brown were ALL STILL on the #$%#ing board.
GRADE = D+

2nd Round(48th overall)

some text

Darcel McBath, S -Texas Tech

Height: 6′0″ | Weight: 198 | 40 Time: 4.58 | Vertical: 38.0 | Projected: 3rd Round

Wow. Darcel McBath? Really? It’s becoming more and more obvious that McDaniels and the scouting department don’t know their own arse from a hole in the ground. Struggling to stop the run and with DE/OLB Cody Brown, DT SenDerrick Marks, and DT Fili Moala still on the board, The Grublets went ahead and took a skinny converted cornerback that can’t tackle and does NOT play physical.
GRADE = D+

2nd Round(64th overall)

some text

Richard Quinn, TE -North Carolina

Height: 6′4″ | Weight: 264 | 40 Time: 4.88 | BroadJump: 9′11″ | Projected: 5th Round

You trade up for a #$%#ing blocking TE? WTFF!!! I mean Jarron Gilbert, Michael Johnson, and Alex Magee are ALL still on the board yet the tards trade up to go after Richard Quinn.
GRADE = F

4th Round(114th overall)

some text

David Bruton, S -Notre Dame

Height: 6′2″ | Weight: 219 | 40 Time: 4.46 | Vertical: 41.5 | Projected: 3rd Round

The only pick I really liked, besides getting a blue chipper like Moreno, was the selection of David Bruton from my own Fighting Irish. Bruton is a huchbacked safety that hits hard and he’s a team leader. He has terrific size and great timed speed. Excellent Value here by McCheese and the McGriddles.
GRADE = B+

4th Round(132nd overall)

some text

Olsen, OT -Iowa

Height: 6′5″ | Weight: 305 | 40 Time: 5.49 | BenchPress: NA | Projected: Priority Free-Agent

The end of the 4th round didn’t have many gems available but I guess that’s what you get when you trade up to get a blocking tightend in the 2nd round. This selection could have been worse but Olsen’s lack of athleticism will keep him from getting on the field any time soon.
GRADE = D+

5th Round(141st overall)

some text

Kenny McKinley, WR -South Carolina

Height: 6′0″ | Weight: 189 | 40 Time: 4.44 | Vertical: 37.0 | Projected: 6th Round

Kenny McKinley isn’t that bad a WR but he’s rail thin and doesn’t have any kind of blocking ability. He could contribute in some three/four wide receiver sets but he won’t be any kind of help on special teams. A complete project right now and not a position of need. One of my favorite sleeper WRs(Jarret Dillard) was still on the board here.
GRADE = D-

6th Round(174th overall)

some text

Tom Brandstater, QB -Fresno State

Height: 6′5″ | Weight: 220 | 40 Time: 4.95 | 3-Cone: 6.93 | Projected: 6th Round

Tom Brandstater isn’t that much of a reach considering the available talent…. mostly priority free agents and the like. Maybe Brandstater will turn into a serviceable backup. He can’t be as bad as Chris Simms.
GRADE = D+

7th Round(225th overall)

some text

Blake Schlueter, C -Texas Christian

Height: 6′2″ | Weight: 286 | 40 Time: 4.98 | Bench Reps: NA | Projected: 7th Round

Great value here! Blake Schlueter is a classic try hard over achiever who is very self motivated. He’s a two time team captain and total gym rat. Great Pick!!!
GRADE = B-

BOTTOM LINE: The lack of garnering any kind of help on the front 7 will kill us again this year. The teams that we will play in our own division and out of it ALL run the ball extremely well and that’s exactly what the Broncos’ defense has always struggled to stop. It’s my firm belief that McDaniels is on the fast track to losing his job but only time will tell. Knowshon Moreno is a very talented player so I give them partial credit, as that wasn’t a terrible pick based on talent alone.

Most Wanted: Shaun Phillips Cited for Battery

April 28th, 2009 Joe Everett No comments

shaun-phillipsChargers linebacker Shaun Phillips allegedly gave a night club security guard a wrap to the “Jack Johnson”. The incident was reported about 1:25 a.m. early Saturday morning at the Ivy Hotel on F Street, according to San Diego police.

Authorities report a brawl broke out in the club but they also said neither Phillips nor any other Chargers players were involved in the incident.

This is apparently the second time this month that Phillips has been involved in a battery incident, as police claim that on April 11 a security guard at the Stingaree club on Sixth Avenue said Phillips choked and punched him. The guard reported the incident several hours later and Phillips was named as a suspect but was not arrested or cited.

Phillips denies having anything to do with the incident on Saturday Morning. Saying; “It was somebody else’s mishap. It had nothing to do with me or my teammates,” Phillips said. He confirmed that he received a citation and said the officer was “just doing his job based on one person’s account.”

“There is video of the whole thing, and it won’t show me anywhere in the vicinity,” Phillips said.

Phillips also was arrested in April 2006 for an altercation with a patrol officer in downtown San Diego. The City Attorney’s Office declined to file charges after reviewing the case.

The Final NFL Mock Draft of the Year

April 25th, 2009 Joe Everett No comments

staffordFINAL NFL MOCK DRAFT

The final version 2.3.239!!! That’s right it’s draft morning and it’s time for last call before the celebration. So sit back, crack open an adult beverage, and enjoy the last mock before the draft starts.

The best part about this last mock is that at least I know I’ve got one correct pick thus far. I couldn’t be more stoked up about this year’s draft and it’s great to finally be at the end of all this waiting.

(Last Update – April 25th, 2009)

some text 1. Detroit Lions
Stafford, Matthew – QB – Georgia
The Lions are desperate to make some kind of impact here and with the success of last year’s two first round QBs, who can blame them for taking Stafford.
some text 2. St.Louis Rams
Jason Smith – OT – Baylor
The Rams need a dominating presence at the OT position and Smith will be their selection. Most scouts are convinced that since Smith is more agressive than Monroe that he’s the better player, I’m not so sure though.
some text 3. KansasCity Chiefs
Curry, Aaron – OLB – Wake Forest
The Chiefs need help in all facets of the game but their defense is in need of multiple positions with their expected move to the 3-4 defense.
some text 4. Seattle Seahawks
Sanchez, Mark – QB – USC
The Seahawks need to get help on offense and if they don’t take Sanchez then they’ll certainly be smart to trade the pick because this is where Sanchez is going.
some text 5. Cleveland Browns
Crabtree, Michael – WR – Texas Tech
The Browns need playmakers on the offensive side and they’ll be luckly to have a blue chipper like Crabtree fall in their laps.
some text 6. Cininnati Bengals
Raji, BJ – DT – Boston College
The Bengals have been searching for pass rushers and they are in need of a spark on defense. Raji certainly could provide that and I doubt the drug allegations will drop his stock that much.
some text 7. Oakland Raiders
Maclin, Jeremy – WR – Missouri
Al Davis loves the playmakers with top end speed and explosiveness. Maclin brings both plus dynamic kick return ability.
some text 8. Jacksonville Jaguars
Monroe, Eugene – OL – Virginia
Jacksonville needs more depth on the offensive line and a widereceiver. I previously had Sanchez selected here and traded but it looks as if the hype machine will elevate the Trojan QB’s stock even further.
some text 9. GreenBay Packers
Orakpo, Brain – DE – Texas
Green Bay desperately needs some new players to help the transition of th 3-4 defense. Orakpo can lineup either at DE or OLB and with the rumors that Kampmann will be traded, this makes sense.
some text 10. SanFrancisco 49ers
Brown, Everette – DE – Florida State
The 49ers snag the best player on their board and are happy to do so at #10. Brown will help bring some ressure on the opposite side of the Lawson experiment.
some text 11. Buffalo Bills
Maybin, Aaron – DE – Penn State
The Bills needs a pass rusher since neither Schobel or Kelsay aren’t getting it done. Maybin is a freak of nature when it comes to a first step, he’s a boom or bust type but the Bills are desperate for a pass rush.
some text 12. Denver Broncos
Jackson, Tyson – DE – LSU
Tyson Jackson fills a need for the Broncos. They need some youth on the front line and some versatility. Jackson can start right away and play multiple positions on the line.
some text 13. Washington Redskins
Smith, Andre – OL – Alabama
Washington needs to get younger on both front lines. Smith is a gamble but the Skins aren’t afraid of rolling the dice if it means that they can get a steal in the draft.
some text 14. NewOrleans Saints
Jenkins, Malcolm – CB – Ohio State
The Saints need help in the secondary in the worst way. Jenkins is one of the more solid selections form this year’s class of defensive backs.
some text 15. Houston Texans
Davis, Vontae – CB – Illinois
The Texans will reach on Davis in the hopes of landing some consistency in the defensive backfield.
some text 16. SanDiego Chargers
Moreno, Knowshon – RB – Georgia
The Chargers might take a long hard look at Maualuga here but will settle for the best player on the board in Moreno. He should be a good selection with Tomlinson likely in his last year with the team.
some text 17. NewYork Jets
Wells, Chris – RB – Ohio State
Lord knows WHAT Little Joshie McCheese will do with his Grublets but we sure could use a young ball-carrier since our entire group is a bunch of slugs except for Torain.
some text 18. Denver Broncos
Maualuga, Rey – ILB – USC
I had Maualuga going to the Broncos earlier but I could see him slip further down the draftboard than he should. Maualuga is a hitting machine and the Broncos would do well to add another tackler
some text 19. TampaBay Buccaneers
Jerry, Peria – DT – Mississippi
Tampa reaches but gets a player that fits their scheme perfectly. Jerry fits into the first round but maybe not this high. Tampa’s defense certainly can use some youth.
some text 20. Detroit Lions
Laurinaitis, James – ILB – Ohio State
Detroit wants more playmakers on defense and Laurinaitis is simply too good to pass up at #20. He brings a lot of experience at a high level of college play and should be a leader on the field.
some text 21. Philadelphia Eagles
Johnson, Michael – DE – Georgia Tech
Philly is always on the lookout for defensive line help and Johnson is just the gamble they want to take in the event that the YellowJacket turns out to be a better pro than collegiate player.
some text 22. Minnesota Vikings
Heyward-Bey, Darrius – WR – Maryland
The Vikes will grab the workout warrior ala Troy Williamson but this time it will be a homerun. The Maryland product has superior speed and tremendous leaping ability.
some text 23. NewEngland Patriots
Cushing, Brian – OLB – USC
The Pats still need youth at the OLB position and Cushing gives them exactly that. Cushing is a bit of a work out warrior himself but comes from a great program.
some text 24. Atlanta Falcons
Oher, Michael – OT – Mississippi
The Falcons GM gets a steal at the end of the first. Oher is a very physical player who should fit well w/ Atlanta’s aggressive run attack.
some text 25. Miami Dolphins
Nicks, Hakeem – WR – UNC
The Dolphins need some more talent on the offense and Nicks could give the Phins a larger possesion receiver. Miami needs more weapons, so I could see this being a nice match.
some text 26. Baltimore Ravens
Smith, Sean – CB/S – Utah
The Ravens are hurting in the secondary. Smith has terrific size, speed, and instincts. The Ravens need to infuse some youth into their defense and Smith’s freakish abilities are a great addition.
some text 27. Indianapolis Colts
Hood, Evander – DT – Missouri
The Colts have a strong need for more bulk up front and Ziggy Hood should give the Colts much needed help on Defense. They’re not afraid to reach.
some text 28. Buffalo Bills
Britton, Eben – OL – Arizona
This Mammoth-sized tackle is impressing scouts and is seeing his stock rise. The Eagles stole Jason Peters.
some text 29. NewYork Giants
Kenny Britt – WR – Rutgers
The Giants need to find an answer for Eli Manning and the offense because teams know they can’t move the ball through the air without a tall deep threat. Britt has the ability to be a great #1 WR.
some text 30. Tennessee Titans
Unger, Max – OL – Oregon
Quality selection by the Titans, just as Kevin Mawae is starting to fade, Unger enters to take up the reins and can fill in at multiple positions on the line.
some text 31. Arizona Cardinals
English, Larry – DE – Northern Illinois
The Cards are looking for a “Joey Porter” type to rush the passer and stuff the run. This hybrid DE/OLB from Nothern Illinois has a great knack for getting to the quarterback.
some text 32. Pittsburgh Steelers
Mack, Alex – OL – California
The Steelers need to keep defenders off of Roethlisberger’s back. Mack is a tough, disciplined, and tenacious blocker who fits the Steelers Mold.
